Spending the Day in Venice Beach and Jord Watch Giveaway

Los Angeles is synonymous with summer … living in the Hollywood Hills means sometimes you just need to add the beach to the equation. One of my favorite day trips is Venice Beach. It’s got a flavor all its own and only 30 minutes away …when there’s no traffic (which is never) … or 2 hours when the I10 is bumper to bumper. Nevertheless its always worth the trip. Here are a few of the sights I like to hit to get the very most out of my visit. Let me know your favorites in the comments below.

  • First stop (after searching for parking) is a great latte or cup of coffee, I love Menotti’s.  I was strolling around checking out the little beach shops one morning when I smelled the delicious aroma of coffee in the air. I followed my nose and ended up at Menotti’s. It’s a small, charming and they know how to make a great latte, complete with latte art. There are tables inside but when it’s not too hot I love to grab one of the little cafe tables outside and watch the people go by while I sip …trying to decide if I can handle just one more latte without getting the jitters.

I would highly recommend that you check out the Flower Fields in Carlsbad California. According to Wikipedia:

The Flower Fields is a flower garden found on the Carlsbad Ranch in Carlsbad, California. It opens up once a year in spring from March 1 through May 10.

Here is a link to the Flower Fields website for more information.

Here are some photos from my trip to The Flower Fields:

I would also recommend going to the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve.    According to Wikipedia:

Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve is a state-protected reserve of California, harboring the most consistent blooms of California poppies, the state flower.  The reserve is open to visitors year-round. The visitors center will open March 1 and remain open through May 14. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
