A Gluten Free Diet Based on Whole Foods

Eating a healthy, gluten-free diet did not have to be difficult. Here’s what I’ve learned through this process.

My diet primarily consists of whole foods.  The article from One Green Planet outlines some easy to follow guidelines for planning your gluten free meals.  Meals from whole foods always take planning and preparation, whether you’re eating gluten free or not, so many of these tips are useful to everyone if you are trying to stay away from processed foods.

 

I really like tip #2 “Shop the Perimeter of the Grocery Store”.  I heard this tip years ago to help people eat healthier and stay away from the more processed stuff, just by not going to that area of the store. I also am always prepared, my handbag always has 1 gluten free bar and 1 package of unsalted walnuts or almonds, so I am never tempted to buy other gluten free items that aren’t so good for me…..like recently in an airport when I bought Fritos (yes they’re gluten free).  I only buy them when I’m in a pinch.
